Moore County is a one of the county from North Carolina's 100 counties, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The county has a population of 74769 as per the 2000 census data. Its population was estimated at 85608 in July 2008, It is the 32nd most populous county in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The county encompasses an area of 705.67 square miles (1827.68 square kilometre ), of which, 697.74 square miles (1807.14 square kilometre) of it is land and 7.94 square miles (20.56 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 21st largest by area in the U.S. state of North Carolina.

The population density was 107.2 people per square mile (41.39/kmē), it is the 48th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of North Carolina. There were 35151 housing units at an average density of 50.4 per square mile (19.46/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.38 persons, and the average family size was 2.81 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 22.1% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 21.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 107.6 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 111.3 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 85608, The racial makeup of the county was 83.07% White, 14.37% Black or African American, 0.8% American Indian, 0.71% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 0.99% from two or more races.
