Montour County is a county in the United States of Pennsylvania. The county has a population of 18236 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 17705, It is the sixth smallest in terms of population. The county encompasses an area of 132.3 square miles (342.66 square kilometre ), of which, 130.75 square miles (338.64 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.55 square miles (4.01 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the smallest by total area in Pennsylvania.

The population density was 139.5 people per square mile (53.86/kmē), making it the 33rd most densely populated county in Pennsylvania. There were 7627 housing units at an average density of 58.3 per square mile (22.51/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.43 persons, and the average family size was 2.98 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 24.4% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 24% from 45 to 64, and 17.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 110.6 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 116.2 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 17705, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 96.2% White, 1.42% Black or African American, 0.1% American Indian, 1.6% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.67% from two or more races.
