Montmorency County, Michigan is a county of the United States of Michigan. Montmorency County had an official population of 10315 in 2000. Its population was estimated at 10335 in July 2008, It is eighth least populous county in Michigan. It is spread over 562.44 miē (1456.71 kmē), of which, 547.63 square miles (1418.36 kmē ) of it is land and 14.81 square miles (38.36 kmē) of it is water, it is the ninth smallest by area in the U.S. state of Michigan.

The population density was 18.8 people per square mile (7.26/kmē), making its Michigan's 12th least densely populated county. There were 9238 housing units at an average density of 16.9 per square mile (6.53/kmē). The average household size was 2.29 persons, and the average family size was 2.75 persons. In the Montmorency County, 20.3% of the population was under the age of 18, 5.9% were 18 to 24, 20.9% were 25 to 44, 29.1% were 45 to 64, and 23.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.9 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 10335, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 10154 White, 32 Black or African American, 42 American Indian, 12 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 95 from two or more races.
