Montgomery County, Tennessee is a county located in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. Montgomery County had an official population of 134768 in 2000. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 154756, It is the eighth most populous county in the U.S. state of Tennessee. It is spread over 543.84 sq mi (1408.54 kmē), of which, 539.28 square miles (1396.73 kmē ) of it is land and 4.57 square miles (11.84 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 29th largest by total area among Tennessee's county.

In the county the population was spread out, with 28.4% under the age of 18, 12.3% from 18 to 24, 34.3% from 25 to 44, 17.2% from 45 to 64, and 7.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 101.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.8 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 154756, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 75.06% White, 19.65% Black or African American, 0.53% American Indian, 1.91% Asian, 0.2% Native Hawaiian, and 2.65% from two or more races.
