Montgomery County, Iowa is a county of the United States of Iowa. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 11771 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 10870, giving it the 29th smallest population among Iowa's county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 424.81 square miles (1100.25 square kilometre), of which, 423.88 square miles (1097.84 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.93 square miles (2.41 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the seventh smallest by area in the U.S. state of Iowa.

As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 10870, The racial makeup of the county was 98.39% White, 0.2% Black or African American, 0.45% American Indian, 0.34% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 0.61% from two or more races.
