Montello City, Marquette County, Wisconsin is a city located in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 1397 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 1459, It is the 304th largest in terms of population. The city extends throughout a territory of 2.15 square miles (5.57 sq km ), of which, 1.91 square miles (4.95 sq km) of it is land and 0.25 square miles (0.65 sq km) of it is water, making it the 307th largest by size in Wisconsin.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1397 people in the city, organized into 76 households, and 48 families residing in the city. The population density was 732.6 people per square mile (282.86/kmē), it is 346th most densely populated city in Wisconsin. There were 677 housing units at an average density of 354.5 per square mile (136.87/kmē). The average household size was 2.25 persons, and the average family size was 2.96 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 23.7% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 26.3% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 22.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.6 males. The median age was 40.3 years, The median age of males and females living in Montello City was 38.5 and 43.1 years respectively. The racial makeup of the city was 1343 White, 4 Black or African American, 14 American Indian, 6 Asian, 2 Native Hawaiian, 12 from two or more races and 16 Ohter races.
