Montebello City is a city located in Los Angeles County, California, in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 62150 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 61906, making it California's 110th largest. The city comprises an area of 8.35 square miles (21.63 square kilometre), of which, 8.25 square miles (21.37 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.11 square miles (0.28 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 387th largest by area in the U.S. state of California.

As of the census of 2000, there were 62150 residents, 18844 households, and 14865 families in the city. The population density was 7536.9 people per square mile (2910.01/kmē), it is California's 101st most densely populated city. There were 19416 housing units at an average density of 2353.5 per square mile (908.69/kmē). The average household size was 3.28 persons, and the average family size was 3.67 persons. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 28.6% under the age of 18, 10.4% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 18.2% from 45 to 64, and 12.4% who were 65 or older. The median age is 31.4 years, the median age of male residents at 29.9 and the median age of female residents at 33.1. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 29098 White, 559 Black or African American, 767 American Indian, 7232 Asian, 51 Native Hawaiian, 3403 from two or more races and 21040 Ohter races.
