Monteagle Town is a town located in Grundy, Marion and Franklin counties, Tennessee, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. In 2000, town's population was 1238 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 1203, It is the 241st largest by population in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The town extends throughout a territory of 8.25 sq mi (21.37 kmē ), of which, 8.14 square miles (21.08 kmē) of it is land and 0.11 square miles (0.28 kmē) of it is water, it is the 111th largest by area in the U.S. state of Tennessee.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1238 residents, 5369 households, and 3232 families in the town. The population density was 152.2 people per square mile (58.76/kmē), it would be the 28th least densely populated town in the U.S. state of Tennessee. There were 701 housing units at an average density of 86.1 per square mile (33.24/kmē). The average household size was 2.33 and the average family size was 2.85. In the Monteagle Town, 19.5% of the population was under the age of 18, 7.8% were 18 to 24, 23% were 25 to 44, 24.2% were 45 to 64, and 25.5% who were 65 or older.
