Monte Vista City is a city located in the Rio Grande County, Colorado, United States. It is home to over 4529 people (2000 census). The July 2008 population estimate is 4009, giving it the 96th largest population among Colorado. The city comprises an area of 1.95 square miles (5.05 sq km), of which, 1.89 square miles (4.9 sq km) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 sq km) of it is water, it is the 168th largest by area in the U.S. state of Colorado.

The population density was 2390.1 people per square mile (922.82/kmē), making its Colorado's 56th most densely populated city. The racial makeup of the city was 63.08% White, 0.38% Black or African American, 1.61% American Indian, 0.29% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, 2.78% from two or more races and 31.82% Other races.
