Montague City, Michigan


Montague City is a city located in Muskegon County, Michigan, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 2407 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 2294, giving it the 284th largest population among Michigan. It covers total area of 3.2 sq mi (8.29 square kilometre), of which, 2.66 square miles (6.89 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.54 square miles (1.4 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Michigan's 230th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2407 people in the city, organized into 990 households, and 667 families residing in the city. The population density was 905.1 people per square mile (349.46/kmē), making it the 380th most densely populated city in Michigan. There were 1075 housing units at an average density of 404.1 per square mile (156.02/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.43 persons, and the average family size was 2.97 persons. In the Montague City, 26.1% of the population was under the age of 18, 8.8% were 18 to 24, 27% were 25 to 44, 23.7% were 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 89.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.2 males.
