Its population was estimated at 37651 in July 2008, making it the 201st most populous in California. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 13.81 square miles (35.77 square kilometre), of which, 13.75 square miles (35.61 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.07 square miles (0.18 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 239th largest by size in California.
