Monroe City, Jasper County, Iowa is a city located in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 1808 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 1826, making it Iowa's 172nd largest. The city extends throughout a territory of 1.69 mi˛ (4.38 square kilometre ), making it Iowa's 223rd largest by total area.
