Monmouth County is a one of the county from New Jersey's 21 counties, located in Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 615301 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 642448, making it New Jersey's fourth largest county. It has total area of 665.12 sq mi (1722.65 sq km), of which, 471.94 square miles (1222.32 sq km) of it is land and 193.18 square miles (500.33 sq km) of it is water, making it New Jersey's fifth largest county by total area. It is ranks third in the size of its inland waterways in New Jersey.

As of the census of 2000, there were 615301 people, 224236 households, and 160233 families living in the county. The population density was 1303.8 people per square mile (503.4/kmē), it is New Jersey's ninth most densely populated county. There were 240884 housing units at an average density of 510.4 per square mile (197.07/kmē). The average household size was 2.7 people, and the average family size was 3.24 people. The population's age distribution was 26.1% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.9 males. Its population was estimated at 642448 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 85.57% White, 7.9% Black or African American, 0.2% American Indian, 5.02% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 1.27% from two or more races.
