Monessen City is a United States city located in the Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is home to over 8669 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the estimated population was 8024, making it the 138th most populous in Pennsylvania. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.06 sq mi (7.93 kmē), of which, 2.9 square miles (7.51 kmē) of it is land and 0.15 square miles (0.39 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 212th largest by total area among Pennsylvania.
