According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Mohave County is home to 155032 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 196281, It is fifth most populous county in Arizona. Its area is just over 13469.71 mi˛ (34886.39 square kilometre), of which, 13311.64 square miles (34476.99 square kilometre) of it is land and 158.07 square miles (409.4 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the second largest by area in the U.S. state of Arizona. It is ranks first in the size of its inland waterways in Arizona.

As of the census of 2000, there were 155032 people in the county, organized into 62809 households, and 43372 families living in the county. The population density was 11.6 people per square mile (4.48/km˛), giving it the eighth most densely populated county among the Arizona. There were 80062 housing units at an average density of 6 per square mile (2.32/km˛). The average household size was 2.45 people, and the average family size was 2.87 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 23.1% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 23.2% from 25 to 44, 26.7% from 45 to 64, and 20.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 101.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 103.4 females. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 196281, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 182433 White, 2883 Black or African American, 4982 American Indian, 2294 Asian, 269 Native Hawaiian, and 3420 from two or more races.
