Missoula County is one of the 56 county of Montana, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 95802 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 107320, giving it the second largest population among Montana's county. Its area is just over 2618.34 mi˛ (6781.47 sq km), of which, 2597.97 square miles (6728.71 sq km) of it is land and 20.37 square miles (52.76 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 25th largest by total area in Montana.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 95802 residents, 38439 households, and 23145 families in the county. The population density was 36.9 people per square mile (14.25/km˛), making its Montana's third most densely populated county. There were 41319 housing units at an average density of 15.9 per square mile (6.14/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.4 persons, and the average family size was 2.96 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 22.9% under the age of 18, 15.4% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 10% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 100.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 102 females. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 107320, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 100369 White, 834 Black or African American, 2902 American Indian, 1262 Asian, 97 Native Hawaiian, and 1856 from two or more races.
