Mississippi County is a county located in the United States of Arkansas. Mississippi County had an official population of 51979 in 2000. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 46808, It is 15th most populous county in Arkansas. It is spread over 919.73 sq mi (2382.09 sq km), of which, 898.25 square miles (2326.46 sq km ) of it is land and 21.48 square miles (55.63 sq km) of it is water, it is the seventh largest by area in the U.S. state of Arkansas.

The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 46808, The racial makeup of the county was 29738 White, 15974 Black or African American, 201 American Indian, 234 Asian, 17 Native Hawaiian, and 644 from two or more races.
