Minnetonka City is a city in the Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. The city has a population of 51301 as per the 2000 census data. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 50081, making it Minnesota's 13th largest. Its area is just over 28.22 mi˛ (73.09 sq km), of which, 27.14 square miles (70.29 sq km) of it is land and 1.08 square miles (2.8 sq km) of it is water, it is the 46th largest by area in the U.S. state of Minnesota.

As of the census of 2000, there were 51301 people, 21393 households, and 14090 families living in the city.
