Minnesota is a state located in , in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, state's population was 4919479 inhabitants. The state's estimated population as of July 2008 was 5220393, making it the 21st most populous in United States. It covers total area of 86938.87 square miles (225170.64 square kilometre), of which, 79610.08 square miles (206189.16 square kilometre) of it is land and 7328.79 square miles (18981.48 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 12th largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks eighth in the size of its inland waterways in United States.

The population density was 61.8 people per square mile (23.86/kmē), it is the 31st most densely populated state in the U.S. state of America. There were 2065946 housing units at an average density of 26 per square mile (10.04/kmē). The average household size was 2.52 people, and the average family size was 3.09 people. In the state Age distribution was 26.2% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.6 males. The median age was 35.4 years, the median age of male residents at 34.4 and the median age of female residents at 36.3. The state's estimated population as of July 2008 was 4919479, The racial or ethnic makeup of the state was 4400282 White, 171731 Black or African American, 54967 American Indian, 141968 Asian, 1979 Native Hawaiian, 82742 from two or more races and 65810 Ohter races.
