Mineral County, Montana is a county located in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. Mineral County had an official population of 3884 in 2000. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 3862, giving it the 38th largest population among Montana's county. It covers total area of 1223.38 sq mi (3168.54 sq km), of which, 1219.82 square miles (3159.32 sq km) of it is land and 3.56 square miles (9.22 sq km) of it is water, it is the sixth smallest by area in the U.S. state of Montana.

The population density was 3.2 people per square mile (1.24/kmē), it would be the 24th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Montana. There were 1961 housing units at an average density of 1.6 per square mile (0.62/kmē). The average household size was 2.41 persons, and the average family size was 2.9 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 24.3% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 25.3% from 25 to 44, 29.8% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 106.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 105.6 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 3862, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 3653 White, 9 Black or African American, 83 American Indian, 16 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, and 100 from two or more races.
