Milwaukee County is a county located in Wisconsin, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 940164 as per the Census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 953328, making it Wisconsin's largest county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1189.7 sq mi (3081.31 kmē), of which, 241.56 square miles (625.64 kmē) of it is land and 948.14 square miles (2455.67 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 14th largest by total area among Wisconsin's county. It is ranks third in the size of its inland waterways in Wisconsin.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 940164 people, 377729 households, and 225046 families living in the county. The population density was 3892.1 people per square mile (1502.75/kmē), it is most densely populated county in Wisconsin. There were 400093 housing units at an average density of 1656.3 per square mile (639.5/kmē). The average household size was 2.43 people, and the average family size was 3.13 people. In the Milwaukee County, 26.4% of the population was under the age of 18, 10.5% were 18 to 24, 30.3% were 25 to 44, 20% were 45 to 64, and 12.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.1 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 953328, The racial makeup of the county was 652132 White, 245238 Black or African American, 8384 American Indian, 29719 Asian, 930 Native Hawaiian, and 16925 from two or more races.
