Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 20703, It is Georgia's 40th largest by population . Its area is just over 20.25 mi˛ (52.45 sq km), of which, 19.98 square miles (51.75 sq km) of it is land and 0.27 square miles (0.7 sq km) of it is water, making it the 28th largest by size in Georgia.
