Miles City City is a United States city located in the Custer County, Montana, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 8487 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 8102, making it Montana's tenth largest. The city extends throughout a territory of 3.28 square miles (8.5 sq km ), giving it the 96th largest by total area among Montana.

As of the census of 2000, there were 8487 people in the city, organized into 3528 households, and 2194 families living in the city. The population density was 2593.3 people per square mile (1001.28/kmē), it is 15th most densely populated city in Montana.
