The city extends throughout a territory of 2.73 square miles (7.07 sq km ), of which, 2.66 square miles (6.89 sq km) of it is land and 0.07 square miles (0.18 sq km) of it is water, it is the 48th largest by area in the U.S. state of South Dakota. It is ranks 12 in the size of its inland waterways in South Dakota.

The population density was 1367.4 people per square mile (527.96/kmē), making its South Dakota's 46th most densely populated city.
