Middletown Borough is one of the borough of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, located towards the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. The population of the borough was 9242 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 8841, making it the 121st most populous in Pennsylvania. The borough has a total area of 2.09 mi˛ (5.41 square kilometre), of which, 2.04 square miles (5.28 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.06 square miles (0.16 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 348th largest by total area among Pennsylvania.

As of the census of 2000, there were 9242 people in the borough, organized into 4032 households, and 2371 families living in the borough. The population density was 4536.5 people per square mile (1751.55/km˛), making it the 181st most densely populated borough in Pennsylvania. There were 4387 housing units at an average density of 2150.5 per square mile (830.31/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.23 persons, and the average family size was 2.9 persons. In the borough the population is diverse age-wise, with 23% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 21.1% from 45 to 64, and 17.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 84.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.5 males. The median age is 36.9 years, The median age of males and females living in Middletown Borough was 34.8 and 39.2 years respectively. The racial makeup of the borough was 8204 White, 678 Black or African American, 25 American Indian, 49 Asian, 4 Native Hawaiian, 197 from two or more races and 85 Ohter races.
