Michigan is a state of the United States. In 2000, state's population was 9938444 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 10003422, giving it the eighth largest population among United States. The state has a total area of 96716.11 sq mi (250493.57 square kilometre), of which, 56803.82 square miles (147121.22 square kilometre) of it is land and 39912.28 square miles (103372.33 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 11th largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in United States.

The population density was 175 people per square mile (67.57/kmē), it would be the 15th most densely populated state in the U.S. state of America. There were 4234279 housing units at an average density of 74.5 per square mile (28.76/kmē). The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.1. In the state Population was distributed with 26.1% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 29.8% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 12.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.2 males. The median age is 35.5 years, The median age of males was 34.3 years, for females the median age was 36.6 years. In July 2008, its estimated population was 9938444, The racial or ethnic makeup of the state was 7966053 White, 1412742 Black or African American, 58479 American Indian, 176510 Asian, 2692 Native Hawaiian, 192416 from two or more races and 129552 Ohter races.
