Micanopy Town is a one of the Alachua County, Florida, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The population of town in 2000 stood at 653 as per the Census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 695, making it the 99th least populous in Florida. The town comprises an area of 1.08 sq mi (2.8 square kilometre), of which, 1.03 square miles (2.67 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 160th smallest by total area in Florida.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 653 residents, 302 households, and 172 families in the town. The population density was 631.4 people per square mile (243.78/kmē), it is 205th least densely populated town in Florida. There were 346 housing units at an average density of 335.9 per square mile (129.69/kmē). The average household size was 2.16 people, and the average family size was 2.74 people. In the town the population is diverse age-wise, with 19.8% under the age of 18, 4.7% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 31.7% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.8 males. The median age is 43 years, the median age of male residents at 41.2 and the median age of female residents at 45.1. The racial or ethnic makeup of the town was 446 White, 189 Black or African American, 4 American Indian, 2 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 10 from two or more races and 2 Ohter races.
