Miami City is a city located in Ottawa County, Oklahoma, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. Miami City had an official population of 13704 in 2000. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 13027, It is the 30th largest in terms of population. The city extends throughout a territory of 9.8 square miles (25.38 kmē ), of which, 9.71 square miles (25.15 kmē) of it is land and 0.08 square miles (0.21 kmē) of it is water, making it Oklahoma's 108th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 13704 people in the city, organized into 5580 households, and 3568 families living in the city. The population density was 1410.8 people per square mile (544.71/kmē), it is Oklahoma's 74th most densely populated city. There were 6111 housing units at an average density of 629.4 per square mile (243.01/kmē). The average household size was 2.31 and the average family size was 2.92. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 24.2% under the age of 18, 12.2% from 18 to 24, 23.7% from 25 to 44, 20.4% from 45 to 64, and 19.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 88.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.1 males. The median age is 36.5 years, The median age of males and females living in Miami City was 33.1 and 39.3 years respectively. The racial makeup of the city was 75.37% White, 1.2% Black or African American, 15.32% American Indian, 0.47% Asian, 0.22% Native Hawaiian, 6.49% from two or more races and 0.93% Other races.
