Metcalfe County is one of the 120 county of Kentucky, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. The county has a population of 10037 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 10288, It is the 22nd smallest in terms of population. The county spans an area of 290.96 sq mi (753.58 kmē), of which, 290.9 square miles (753.43 kmē) of it is land and 0.07 square miles (0.18 kmē) of it is water, it is the 69th largest by area in the U.S. state of Kentucky.

For every 100 males there were 105 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 108 females.
