Mesquite City is a city in the Clark County, Nevada, United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 9389 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 16444, giving it the 20th largest population among Nevada. The city extends throughout a territory of 15.64 square miles (40.51 kmē ), of which, 15.31 square miles (39.65 kmē) of it is land and 0.34 square miles (0.88 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 38th largest by total area in Nevada. It is ranks ninth in the size of its inland waterways in Nevada.

As of the census of 2000, there were 9389 residents, 3498 households, and 2570 families in the city. The population density was 613.3 people per square mile (236.8/kmē), making its Nevada's 26th most densely populated city. There were 4442 housing units at an average density of 290.1 per square mile (112.01/kmē). The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.08. In the city Population was distributed with 25.6% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 22.8% from 25 to 44, 27.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.6% who were 65 or older. The racial makeup of the city was 7539 White, 61 Black or African American, 92 American Indian, 119 Asian, 7 Native Hawaiian, 204 from two or more races and 1367 Ohter races.
