Mesa County is a county located in the United States of Colorado. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 116255 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 143171, It is the 11th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Colorado. The county encompasses an area of 3341.11 miē (8653.44 kmē ), of which, 3327.75 square miles (8618.83 kmē) of it is land and 13.36 square miles (34.6 kmē) of it is water, makes it the fourth largest by total area in Colorado. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in Colorado.

The population density was 34.9 people per square mile (13.47/kmē), making its Colorado's 13th most densely populated county. There were 48427 housing units at an average density of 14.6 per square mile (5.64/kmē). The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 2.94. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 25% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.2 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 143171, The racial makeup of the county was 136833 White, 1450 Black or African American, 1600 American Indian, 1006 Asian, 157 Native Hawaiian, and 2125 from two or more races.
