Mesa City is one of the city of Maricopa County, Arizona, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 396375 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 463552, It is the third most populous in the U.S. state of Arizona. It is spread over 125.18 sq mi (324.21 sq km), of which, 124.99 square miles (323.72 sq km ) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 sq km) of it is water, makes it the ninth largest by total area in Arizona. It is ranks 13 in the size of its inland waterways in Arizona.

As of the census of 2000, there were 396375 people, 146643 households, and 99856 families living in the city. The population density was 3171.3 people per square mile (1224.45/kmē), it would be the eighth most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Arizona. There were 175701 housing units at an average density of 1405.7 per square mile (542.74/kmē). The average household size was 2.68 people, and the average family size was 3.2 people. Age range in the city was well distributed with 27.3% under the age of 18, 11.2% from 18 to 24, 29.7% from 25 to 44, 18.4% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.6 males.
