Merrimack County, New Hampshire is a county of the United States of New Hampshire. In 2000, the population was 136225. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 148161, It is third most populous county in New Hampshire. It is spread over 956.49 square miles (2477.3 sq km), of which, 934.43 square miles (2420.16 sq km ) of it is land and 22.06 square miles (57.14 sq km) of it is water, giving it the fourth largest by total area among New Hampshire's county. It is ranks sixth in the size of its inland waterways in New Hampshire.

The population density was 145.8 people per square mile (56.29/kmē), it is the fourth most populated county in terms of population density. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 24.9% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 24% from 45 to 64, and 12.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.7 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 148161, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 96.42% White, 0.94% Black or African American, 0.24% American Indian, 1.27% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 1.09% from two or more races.
