Meriden City is one of the city of New Haven County, Connecticut, located towards the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. In 2000, the population was 58244. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 59186, It is the 11th most populous in the U.S. state of Connecticut. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 24.14 mi˛ (62.52 sq km), of which, 23.75 square miles (61.51 sq km) of it is land and 0.4 square miles (1.04 sq km) of it is water, it is the 11th largest by area in the U.S. state of Connecticut.

The population density was 2452.8 people per square mile (947.03/km˛), it would be the 27th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Connecticut.
