Mercer County, New Jersey is a county located in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. The county has a population of 350761 as per the 2000 census data. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 364883, making it the 12th most populous county in New Jersey. The county comprises an area of 228.84 miē (592.69 kmē), of which, 225.93 square miles (585.16 kmē) of it is land and 2.91 square miles (7.54 kmē) of it is water, it is the sixth smallest by area in the U.S. state of New Jersey.

The population density was 1552.5 people per square mile (599.42/kmē), giving it the eighth most densely populated county among the New Jersey. There were 133280 housing units at an average density of 589.9 per square mile (227.76/kmē). The average household size was 2.62 and the average family size was 3.16. In the county the population was spread out, with 24% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 12.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 364883, The racial makeup of the county was 253204 White, 74952 Black or African American, 930 American Indian, 29754 Asian, 652 Native Hawaiian, and 5391 from two or more races.
