Mequon City is one of the city of Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 21823. Its population was estimated at 23584 in July 2008, making it Wisconsin's 29th largest. The city encompasses an area of 46.82 mi˛ (121.26 sq km ), of which, 46.18 square miles (119.61 sq km) of it is land and 0.63 square miles (1.63 sq km) of it is water, making it Wisconsin's sixth largest by total area.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 21823 people, 76 households, and 48 families residing in the city. The population density was 472.5 people per square mile (182.43/km˛), it would be the 173rd least densely populated city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. There were 8162 housing units at an average density of 176.7 per square mile (68.22/km˛). The average household size was 2.75 persons, and the average family size was 3.09 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 28.1% under the age of 18, 4.2% from 18 to 24, 22.9% from 25 to 44, 31.2% from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 102.7 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 106.6 females. The median age was 42.5 years, The median age of males was 42 years, for females the median age was 43 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 20549 White, 492 Black or African American, 21 American Indian, 522 Asian, 6 Native Hawaiian, 182 from two or more races and 51 Ohter races.
