Melrose City is one of the city of Stearns County, Minnesota, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 3091 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 3145, It is the 179th most populous in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The city extends throughout a territory of 2.95 mi˛ (7.64 sq km ), of which, 2.83 square miles (7.33 sq km) of it is land and 0.12 square miles (0.31 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 236th largest by total area in Minnesota.

The population density was 1091.8 people per square mile (421.55/km˛), making its Minnesota's 255th most densely populated city. For every 100 females there were 94.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.8 males. The median age is 35.5 years, The median age of males was 33.7 years, for females the median age was 38.3 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 2960 White, 15 Black or African American, 2 American Indian, 17 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 19 from two or more races and 78 Ohter races.
