Meigs County is one of the 95 county of Tennessee, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. The county has a population of 11086 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 11790, It is Tennessee's 13th least populous county. The county encompasses an area of 216.78 sq mi (561.46 square kilometre ), of which, 194.86 square miles (504.69 square kilometre) of it is land and 21.92 square miles (56.77 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the eighth smallest by total area among Tennessee's county.

The population density was 56.9 people per square mile (21.97/kmē), it is Tennessee's 56th most densely populated county. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 25.1% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 26.3% from 45 to 64, and 11.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.3 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 11790, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 11439 White, 231 Black or African American, 28 American Indian, 20 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 72 from two or more races.
