Meigs County is one of the 88 county of Ohio, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 23072 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 22722, It is eighth least populous county in Ohio. The county comprises an area of 432.38 sq mi (1119.86 kmē), of which, 429.42 square miles (1112.19 kmē) of it is land and 2.95 square miles (7.64 kmē) of it is water, it is the 50th largest by area in the U.S. state of Ohio.

As of the census of 2000, there were 23072 people, 9234 households, and 6572 families living in the county. The population density was 53.7 people per square mile (20.73/kmē), it is Ohio's eighth least densely populated county. There were 10782 housing units at an average density of 25.1 per square mile (9.69/kmē). The average household size was 2.47 persons, and the average family size was 2.94 persons. In the county Age distribution was 23.9% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 27.7% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 105.6 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 107.8 females. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 22722, The racial makeup of the county was 97.56% White, 0.81% Black or African American, 0.29% American Indian, 0.24% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 1.1% from two or more races.
