Media Borough, Pennsylvania


Media Borough is one of the borough of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, located towards the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 5533 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 5396 in July 2008, It is the 250th largest in terms of population. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.75 square miles (1.94 kmē), of which, 0.75 square miles (1.94 kmē) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 889th largest by total area in Pennsylvania.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5533 people, 2782 households, and 1113 families living in the borough. The population density was 7399 people per square mile (2856.77/kmē), it would be the 45th most densely populated borough in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. There were 2966 housing units at an average density of 3954.7 per square mile (1526.92/kmē). The average household size was 1.85 and the average family size was 2.73. In the borough the population was spread out, with 13.7% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 34.3% from 25 to 44, 23% from 45 to 64, and 20.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 83.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.9 males. The median age of the borough's population was 40.8 years, the median age of male residents at 38.2 and the median age of female residents at 43.4. The racial or ethnic makeup of the borough was 4483 White, 787 Black or African American, 8 American Indian, 111 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, 107 from two or more races and 36 Ohter races.
