Mecosta County is a county in the United States of Michigan. In 2000, county's population was 40553 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 41562, It is Michigan's 41st most populous county. It has total area of 571.1 square miles (1479.14 sq km), of which, 555.69 square miles (1439.23 sq km) of it is land and 15.41 square miles (39.91 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 13th smallest by total area among Michigan's county.

In July 2008, its estimated population was 41562, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 92.31% White, 4.14% Black or African American, 0.71% American Indian, 1.11% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 1.69% from two or more races.
