Mecosta County is a county in the United States of Michigan. In 2000, county's population was 40553 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 41562, It is Michigan's 41st most populous county. It has total area of 571.1 square miles (1479.14 sq km), of which, 555.69 square miles (1439.23 sq km) of it is land and 15.41 square miles (39.91 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 13th smallest by total area among Michigan's county.

The population density was 73 people per square mile (28.19/kmē), it is 37th most densely populated county in Michigan. In the county Population was distributed with 22.5% under the age of 18, 19.8% from 18 to 24, 23% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 13.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 102.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.2 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 41562, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 92.31% White, 4.14% Black or African American, 0.71% American Indian, 1.11% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 1.69% from two or more races.
