Mecklenburg County is a county located in Virginia, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The county has a population of 32380 as per the 2000 census data. The July 2008 population estimate is 32162, It is the 56th largest in terms of population. The county spans an area of 679.29 square miles (1759.35 square kilometre), of which, 623.93 square miles (1615.97 square kilometre) of it is land and 55.36 square miles (143.38 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the tenth largest by size in Virginia.

The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 32162, The racial makeup of the county was 60.75% White, 37.66% Black or African American, 0.25% American Indian, 0.53% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 0.8% from two or more races.
