Meade County is a county in the United States of Kansas. Meade County had an official population of 4631 in 2000. The July 2008 population estimate is 4359, giving it the 34th smallest population among Kansas's county. It covers total area of 979.66 sq mi (2537.31 sq km), of which, 978.42 square miles (2534.1 sq km) of it is land and 1.24 square miles (3.21 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 18th largest by total area in Kansas.

The population density was 4.7 people per square mile (1.81/kmē), it is the 23rd least populated county in terms of population density. In the county the population was spread out, with 29.5% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 19.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 101.9 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 105.3 females. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 4359, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 97.48% White, 0.48% Black or African American, 0.71% American Indian, 0.25% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 1.08% from two or more races.
