Mcmechen City is one of the city of Marshall County, West Virginia, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 1937. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 1724, making it the 81st most populous in West Virginia. It has total area of 0.84 sq mi (2.18 kmē), of which, 0.58 square miles (1.5 kmē) of it is land and 0.26 square miles (0.67 kmē) of it is water, it is the 163rd largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1937 people, 865 households, and 560 families residing in the city. The population density was 3352.4 people per square mile (1294.37/kmē), it is fourth most densely populated city in West Virginia.
