Mcintosh County is a county located in Oklahoma, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 19456. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 19698, It is the 42nd most populous county in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. It covers total area of 712.48 mi˛ (1845.31 square kilometre), of which, 620.01 square miles (1605.82 square kilometre) of it is land and 92.48 square miles (239.52 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 25th smallest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks first in the size of its inland waterways in Oklahoma.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 19456 residents, 8085 households, and 5685 families in the county. The population density was 31.4 people per square mile (12.12/km˛), it is the 35th most populated county in terms of population density. There were 12640 housing units at an average density of 20.4 per square mile (7.88/km˛). The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.84. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 22.6% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 22.3% from 25 to 44, 26.9% from 45 to 64, and 21.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.3 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 19698, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 72.37% White, 4.23% Black or African American, 15.9% American Indian, 0.17% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 7.27% from two or more races.
