Mcintosh County is a county located in North Dakota, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 3390 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 2639, making it the 36th most populous county in North Dakota. It has total area of 995.04 square miles (2577.14 sq km), of which, 975.19 square miles (2525.73 sq km) of it is land and 19.84 square miles (51.39 sq km) of it is water, it is the 12th smallest by area in the U.S. state of North Dakota.

The population density was 3.5 people per square mile (1.35/kmē), it would be the 32nd most densely populated county in the U.S. state of North Dakota. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 19.4% under the age of 18, 4.6% from 18 to 24, 19.4% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 34.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.7 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 2639, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 98.83% White, 0% Black or African American, 0.19% American Indian, 0.34% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.64% from two or more races.
