Mchenry County is a county located in Illinois, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. It is home to over 260077 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 318641, giving it the sixth largest population among Illinois's county. The county has a total area of 611.13 sq mi (1582.82 kmē), of which, 603.51 square miles (1563.08 kmē) of it is land and 7.62 square miles (19.74 kmē) of it is water, making it the 36th largest by size in Illinois.
