Mccook County is a United States county located in the United States of South Dakota. In 2000, county's population was 5832 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 5671, giving it the 31st largest population among South Dakota's county. The county comprises an area of 577.16 mi˛ (1494.84 sq km), of which, 574.52 square miles (1488 sq km) of it is land and 2.64 square miles (6.84 sq km) of it is water, it is the 14th smallest by area in the U.S. state of South Dakota.
