Mccone County, Montana


Mccone County is one of the 56 county of Montana, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. Mccone County had an official population of 1977 in 2000. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 1676, It is the ninth least populous county in the U.S. state of Montana. It has total area of 2682.77 square miles (6948.34 sq km), of which, 2642.53 square miles (6844.12 sq km) of it is land and 40.25 square miles (104.25 sq km) of it is water, it is the 22nd largest by area in the U.S. state of Montana. It is ranks ninth in the size of its inland waterways in Montana.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1977 people in the county, organized into 810 households, and 597 families residing in the county. The population density was 0.7 people per square mile (0.27/kmē), it is the fifth least populated county in terms of population density. There were 1087 housing units at an average density of 0.4 per square mile (0.15/kmē). The average household size was 2.44 persons, and the average family size was 2.89 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 24.8% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 24.3% from 25 to 44, 26.5% from 45 to 64, and 18.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.3 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 1676, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 1616 White, 6 Black or African American, 29 American Indian, 4 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 21 from two or more races.
