It is 202nd most populous in Maryland. The census designated place spans an area of 4.68 square miles (12.12 sq km), of which, 2.54 square miles (6.58 sq km) of it is land and 2.15 square miles (5.57 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 145th largest by total area in Maryland. It is ranks 18 in the size of its inland waterways in Maryland.
